Scale: This toy is modeled on large construction vehicles that turn into individual robots or one giant robot. It should be bigger than automobile-robots of a similar scale, and it is! For collectors seeking a giant robot that is comparatively huge, this is a monster! (The top of the head is over 15 inches). It towers over comparable toys and really stands out in a collection.Complex: This is not a toy for small children. Even long-time fans of robots that convert into vehicles will have a hard time with this item, even though the direction booklets are included and they are generally pretty clear. Changing each vehicle to a robot is a time-consuming challenge, but the reward is so worth it!Detail: These characters look really good. Toys based on cartoons like these may never have looked so good! The construction vehicles have nifty proportions and are posable. The robot forms are likewise very posable, detailed, and authentically look cool - action figures! Some of the parts are made of translucent orange plastic, meaning backlighting can make the eyes seem to glow! The giant robot form has very well-articulated hands and there is an LED inside the head that lets the eyes glow red! Everyone in our home who saw the glowing eyes was thrilled.Fragile??? There are many very small tabs and fittings on these guys. After turning the toys from construction equipment, to robots, and back, and then into the giant robot, nothing broke. Phew! There were several movements that seemed to stress key joints some movements in the process really created fear that the plastic would break. Since most collectors will just have the giant robot on display, it should last a long time (and it is more stable and posable than many similar toys) - but this set has such impressive sculpting that it really seems a shame to leave some of the other forms neglected.Summary - Not just satisfied, but thrilled and amazed. This is a really complicated and potentially fragile model/toy, but it really dazzles and the price was far better than anything from comparable toy makers. He is really massive and beefy. Has good balance for many poses. Full articulation of the hands and fingers. Arrived with no issues in a timely manner. The old NBK version came with a gun and mine did not so now I'm looking for one. I've seen that the Pocket Toys version of Shockwave fits in his hand. I would rate 9.8 out of 10I had the official Hasbro toy kit when I was a kid in the 80s. Tha5 was stiff and sturdy. This is way more complicated, and mine doesn't seem to stand up on its own. I had to wedge it in a corner. Or I may need a stand. If a child played with it it would be broken in minutes. At least thats the impression I got. The hands have some decent articulation. The hips tilt under the weight of the top half, and it will slide on a smooth surface, as its "feet" vehicles have no traction or grip. The way the crane/chest attaches to the Dumptruck/ torso hip doesnt really lock. Picking it uo from there disconnects it.as a display piece, It looks pretty awesome. Great detail, and textures, and It was worth it, for an aging geek like me. Till all are one.Bought this for my son's 5th birthday a few weeks ago. I had a LOT of reservations based on the reviews but this kid has consistently asked for this toy for years, longer than anything. It's bigger than the G1 Devastator I had as a kid. I am really pleased by most of the build quality. The slop in the hip joints is definitely a bad design - it's hard to make the toy stand/pose - but I still liked it as a 46 year old who doesn't care about toys or collectables, and the boy hauls it around everywhere the past three weeks so it's definitely a favorite.Parents, if you buy it for a small child be prepared to transform it a couple times a week ?If you’re like me you grew up playing with and loving this stuff, but you always had the right leg and the left arm, or the chest and nothing else. I can still remember placing them on the floor spaced where they should be and picturing how awesome the whole thing would look together. Alas, the plight of being lower middle class. So let me get to the bones. These look like knock offs under close inspection, but like, really nice knock offs. The plastic looks like exposure to too much uv will make them brittle enough to snap. Some smaller parts don’t line up quite as well as they should. So, if you’re thinking “this’ll be great for little Timmy or Tanya”…. Slow your role. If they’re sufficiently old enough to go at this with careful play or use them solely in single robot configuration then you’re going to be fine. But I’m a full grown adult and putting them together took some doing. (I won’t say I’m totally mechanically inclined but i do build and custom paint gundam models and I’ve built a few custom tables, so I’m not a complete dullard). This will look great on the shelf in my office and man, it’s nearly a foot and a half tall! And it’s not nearly half a thousand dollars!! I would recommend this for a nerd that isn’t particular about their kitsch or an advanced action figure player of an appropriate age or skill level. In my case I’m firmly in the realm of “this looks cool and i can afford it” and it’s pretty awesome. I just want to warn away anyone giving this to a kid that can’t hack it. You’re going to spend an hour reading the IKEA style directions only for a kid to bring it to you ten minutes later with broken pieces you’re going to have to figure out how to fix.I know this isn’t a ringing endorsement, but i highly recommend it for what it is. And just a reminder, the real deal is like half the cost of a new set of tires for a full size pick up truck. The value and size is what I like about it. If I was going to pick a nit it would have to be sturdiness. I'm going to have to order a doll stand to support this behemoth. He's more than a bit top heavy. But trust me this is well worth the money. I'm looking for more inthis series
